Board Meetings

The September Board Meeting will be on Monday, August 25th, 2008 at 6pm (due to schedule conflicts in September because of the Labor Day holiday). The next Quilt Show Committee Meeting will be held that same Monday at 1pm.
Board Meetings are typically held at on the first Monday of the month at The Thread Bear,
located at 1755 1/2 Main Street, Longmont.
Please note that we have moved the time to 6pm to accommodate working schedules.
If you'd like to speak at a Board Meeting, please contact Guild President Beth Purkett at bethpurkett@longmontquiltguild.org so that she may include you on the meeting agenda.
Meeting agendas are created well in advance of Board Meetings, so please give as
much notice as possible.

First Annual Longmont Quilt Guild Quilt Show
Saturday, September 13, 2008
at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, Building A
9am to 5pm
Admission $3

We're having our very first quilt show, and we want all of our members to be a part of it! We'd like for every member to enter at least one quilt into the show—you can enter up to three if you want to.

The deadline for entry forms to be turned in is Friday, August 15, 2008.
You don't have to turn your quilt in by August 15—just the entry form.
You'll need one form for each quilt. Since this is our first quilt show,
we're featuring entries from guild members only, please.

If you need a copy of the entry form, click here to download one.
(This PDF file is 885KB)

You can also pick up entry forms at some of the local quilt shops and sewing machine
stores in Longmont, Lyons and Berthoud.

We still need more help the day of the quilt show!
If you're interested in volunteering, please email Diane Blandy at dianeblandy@longmontquiltguild.org and come to our next planning meeting
on Monday, July 28 at 1pm at The Thread Bear (1755 1/2 Main St., Longmont).

Upcoming Elections

We'll hold our annual election for Guild Board Members and Officers at the November guild meeting, so if you're interested in serving on the Board (or as a Committee Chair) for 2009, nominations will be at the September and October guild meetings.

We also need Guild Members to serve on the Election Committee—if you have been wanting to volunteer for something short-term and easy, this is a great opportunity to help the guild in a big way! The Election Committee keeps track of the nominations and is responsible for distributing and counting ballots during the election. We are also in need of a person to chair this committee, so if you're interested please contact Guild President Beth Purkett at bethpurkett@longmontquiltguild.org so that she can give you the information you'll need.

We're looking for some fresh new faces for the Board in 2009—many of the wonderful volunteers we have now have been serving as Board Members and/or Committee Chairs for at least a year (some have been there since our Guild started in 2006!) and would like to serve the Guild in other areas for a change. Remember, this is YOUR Guild and in order for us to keep growing and moving forward, we need your help! Serving on the Board is a fun, rewarding way to volunteer and to get to know all the Guild Members. If you have business, organizational and other special talents, please consider sharing them with us by serving on the Board in 2009.

Advertise in the Longmont Quilt Guild Newsletter

The deadline for advertising in the September/October 2008 issue is
Friday, August 15, 2008.

If you would like your ad included in that issue, you must email
it to the Newsletter Chair by that date.

Our membership is growing, and so is our Newsletter! We think our Newsletter is a great way for you to promote your local business to quilters at a reasonable rate. We publish six issues per year (January/February, March/April, May/June, July/August, September/October and November/December) and each issue is distributed at those months' guild meetings. We also make great efforts to provide current issues of Newsletters at local quilting/sewing related businesses, especially those that advertise in the Newsletter. Your ad will also be posted in the Ads section of our website for the length of time you have paid for at no additional cost (for example, if you paid to have your ad in the September/October issue, it will also be posted on our website during September and October, usually within one week after the September/October hard copy issue is distributed at the September guild meeting).

To download a PDF of acceptable file formats and the current advertising rates, click here.

If you'd like additional information about advertising in the Newsletter, contact our Newsletter Chair/Webmaster Jennifer Lowry at webmaster@longmontquiltguild.org.

Ads

We'd like to thank all the local businesses and individuals who support our guild by advertising in our Newsletter. Because of you, our Newsletter is able to pay for itself so that we can continue to share great stories, fun news and photos with our guild members. We encourage our guild members to support and patronize these local businesses who so generously support us!
